NEW: Scores Of Illegal Aliens ‘Self-Deporting’ As Trump Crackdown Looms

Scores of illegal migrants who entered under the Biden-Harris administration are now freely admitting they plan to “self-deport” in the final days before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

NewsNation host Markie Martin, who is the sister of Trump’s deputy communications director, Margo Martin, appeared stunned as she reported on the phenomenon occurring across the U.S. Migrants in recent days have told immigration attorneys that they would rather leave on their terms than be arrested, rounded up, and deported without getting a say in where Trump may send them.

Although it remains unclear what number of migrants may be leaving on their own accord, a “trend” is developing across the U.S. that correspondent Jorge Ventura said has Mexico “bracing” to receive a crush of new arrivals once Trump is inaugurated on January 20th. “It is hardline messaging on those deportations” from Trump that has some migrants “panicking and even choosing now to self-deport back to their home country,” he said.

Rolando Vazquez, an immigration attorney in San Antonio, Texas, said some of his clients are so fearful of forcible removal that they’d rather get it over with themselves.

“Just as recently as yesterday, they notified me that they’re going to depart the country voluntarily, understanding that the Trump administration is going to carry through on their promises,” he told NewsNation.

Illegal migrants are also encouraged to leave based on a new policy by Mexico which will allow for the arrival of more non-Mexican deportees from the U.S. A relocation space just south of the border comes after President-elect Trump spoke with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and promised steep tariffs on Mexican imports unless her administration augments his deportation efforts.

The change in Mexican policy would most affect migrants from Cuba and Venezuela, two Latin American countries wracked by violence and corruption, which have seen countless residents flee to the U.S. in search of asylum. Although both nations do not accept deportations from the U.S., “they may from Mexico,” Ventura reported.

“This is causing many migrants to leave on their own, knowing that they’re either going to be deported to their home country or be deported to Mexico, and obviously the overwhelming majority of them do not want to be in Mexico,” Vazquez, the immigration attorney, explained.

Adding to the uncertainty is increasing violence and human trafficking at the hands of Mexican cartels, who are expected to swoop in and victimize many of the migrants deported there. Sheinbaum has not stated whether her administration has a plan in place to deter the cartels from doing so.
