Satanic Statue Outside New Hampshire State House Has Been Destroyed Once Again

A satanic statue that was placed next to a Christmas nativity scene outside the New Hampshire State House has been destroyed for the second time this month.

The Concord Police Department is investigating the situation after witnesses said an unidentified person toppled the statue, which depicts a pagan symbol, according to a report from local outlet WMUR. The new display had only been up since Monday after the initial statue was smashed to pieces a little over 24 hours after it was erected earlier this month.

Photos from the December 10 destruction showed only the statue’s legs remaining after the rest of it was smashed.

This time, the statue was “pieced back together,” though it is still visibly damaged, local media reported.

The statue was erected at the behest of New Hampshire State Rep. Ellen Read, who represents Newmarket. The state lawmaker claimed the statue was meant to celebrate Issac Newton and “celebrate science and the pursuit of knowledge,” according to a report from WMUR.

“I approached them as a person who cares about equal representation on public grounds for religions,” Read said. The far-left lawmaker came up with the idea after she was disturbed by other religious displays outside the state house.

Read felt compelled to get in touch with the Salem-based Satanic Temple after viewing Christmas displays on the capital complex, including the Nativity scene that was ultimately defiled by the satanic statue.

City officials feared that they would be hit with a lawsuit filed by the Satanic Temple if they refused to grant a permit for the statue. “I opposed the permit because I believe the request was made not in the interest of promoting religious equity, but in order to drive an anti-religious political agenda,” Concord Mayor Byron Champlin said.

City officials argued that under the First Amendment, all religious displays need to be allowed or none at all. As a result, the satanic organization was granted a permit for the display is valid through the end of the year.

“I’ve just been a long time supporter of TST in terms of their beliefs and the work that they do,” Read said. “I’m local, so I helped with the permitting process, and I was there for the unveiling.”

She also claimed there was “nothing inherently offensive” about the Satanic display placed near a Christmas display.

“There were accusations that it meant to denigrate Christians, but there was nothing about it that was denigrating Christians,” the far-left lawmaker said. “If you don’t want to allow it for all religions, then you don’t have to allow religious displays.”
