Life of Agony rock singer de-transitions after living false life as a ‘woman’
The lead vocalist of Life of Agony, an alternative rock band, has declared that he will de-transition after being “cured” of gender dysphoria. Mina Caputo, 50, a biological man, said he has a surgical appointment to remove his prosthetic breasts so he may enjoy living as a “divine male” once more. Caputo will also reclaim his birth name, Keith, he said.
“I’ve cured my gender dysphoria,” Caputo announced in a video posted to Instagram. “It took many years. A lot of walking through the fire, but I rose above my misunderstandings of my soul and my spirit.”
In 2008, Caputo began identifying as a “woman” named Mina. He publicly disclosed his transgender identity in 2011, the Daily Mail reported. He said he felt obligated to announce his de-transition after people began leaving comments on his social media stating that he looked like a man, revealing that he had been off hormone treatments for seven years.
“It’s like honey lamb, I am a man, I always was a man,” Caputo said in the video. “You’re just not used to hearing authentic people speak. You’re used to people spitting lies at you about their identity.”

He announced his de-transition process will be completed next year, saying that “surgery has been booked to remove my fake breasts” for January 2025. Caputo said he is thrilled to be “lovingly living in my divine male self” again.
“I can’t wait. I feel so free,” the singer remarked. “I’m very proud of myself.”

Life of Agony is an alternative rock band from Brooklyn, New York City. The group is known for its albums such as The Sound of Scars and A Place Where There’s No More Pain. The band’s co-founder Alan Robert is in support of Caputo’s de-transition, according to a comment he made on Caputo’s post.
Caputo has been a strong advocate against the gender identity movement over the past year. In a February post, Caputo said that despite taking hormones and trying to change his gender identity, he would never be a woman.
