CNN Host in Shock – Even Geraldo Rivera Wants Dan Bongino as New Secret Service Chief? (Still Wants To Fight Him) | JP
The longtime feud between Dan Bongino and Geraldo Rivera is the thing that quality memes are made of.
There are video clips that live completely rent-free in my head. Geraldo Rivera losing his mind and calling Dan Bongino a “son of a b#@$” when they were both employed by Fox News is one of them, just as an example.

It isn’t exactly news that Dan Bongino is being seriously considered for the top spot in the Secret Service for a much needed shakeup of the federal protection organization. People (me included, but far more influential people than me) have been calling for Bongino to take on the leadership role of the Secret Service since the FIRST attempt on President Trump’s life.
And according to reports, President Trump has been considering that option as well.

Of course, the idea that someone who refuses to add additional pronouns to their social media profile would be considered for a job that is entirely merit-based in nature is shocking to progressives.
But ironically, even the infamous Geraldo Rivera is apparently willing to put his legendary loathsome feelings for Bongino aside — at least, as long as the two of them don’t cross paths in a bar.
According to Geraldo, he would most definitely “square up” with Bongino if that were to happen. (Though I have it on good assurances that they tend to frequent different types of bars.)
Nevertheless, Geraldo left a CNN host completely shocked today by his admission that — in spite of the fact that he basically HATES Bongino — he would be a great pick for the head of the Secret Service! Watch for yourself!
Geraldo Rivera says he would “square off” with Dan Bongino if he came across him in a bar, but doesn’t question his credibility, character or love of the Secret Service.

As I stated, President Trump is reportedly eyeing Bongino as a legitimate replacement for the current head of the Secret Service.
The current Acting Secret Service Director, Ronald Rowe, apparently tried to set up a meeting with President Trump this week. (Maybe to beg for his job?)
But according to a CNN report, Rowe was unsuccessful in his attempts to set up a meeting.
Podcaster Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent who was highly critical of the agency’s leadership as security failures around the alleged attempts on Trump’s life became clear, as well as Sean Curran, the head of Trump’s current detail, are among those being considered for the job.
Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe, meanwhile, was unsuccessful in trying to set up a meeting with Trump this week.
Others on the list of potential picks include Robert Engel, the former head of Trump’s detail who was with him on January 6, 2021, and testified to the House select committee about the former president’s speech at the Ellipse that preceded the US Capitol attack.
As Trump continues to roll out names for top positions in the incoming administration, his choice for director of the Secret Service will be pivotal to the agency’s future – and a particularly personal one for the president-elect.
Could it be that President Trump is simply too busy to meet with the Acting Director of the Secret Service? Somehow, that sounds like a meeting your would normally make time for — particularly if you’re coming off of multiple assassination attempts.
Or, could it be that President Trump knows that the meeting Rowe wants has absolutely nothing to do with his security, and everything to do with his job? That’s where my money is.
After all, when even the most vocal Bongino hater goes on CNN and shocks the host by backing the guy he once called “nothing but a punk” for the best guy to REPLACE YOU — that’s probably a good time to try to get a meeting with the boss.
Geraldo stated that he couldn’t even think of someone that he feels more “combative” with than Bongino, according to a story in Mediaite.
“I can’t imagine anyone who I feel more fiercely combative with than Dan Bongino. If he were to walk into a bar and I was having a beer, we’d probably square off. We disagree on everything. I think he has his own set of facts. I think he’s a provocateur,” Rivera said.
The veteran Fox News host did offer some praise for Bongino in the role of heading the Secret Service. Bongino served in the Secret Service for more than a decade.
Rivera, a former friend of Trump’s, said he felt the same about Fox & Friends Weekend host Pete Hegseth. The combat veteran was nominated by Trump to serve as Defense Secretary. Rivera argued that despite differences with both men, he respects their service and patriotism.
“I go back to what I said about Maj. Pete. I have no issue at all with his honesty, his credibility, his character, his patriotism, his love of the Secret Service. I think all those things are positive for Bongino,” he said.
Rivera added that despite his past with Bongino, he would have confidence his ex-sparring partner would keep him safe if he was on a security detail protecting Rivera.
But in case all those warm mushy words of affirmation have convinced you that the relationship between Bongino and Geraldo Rivera is anything but “combative”, here’s another clip of the two going at it, once again, on Fox News.

As much as I would love to see Geraldo Rivera “square up” with Bongino in a true bar fight (I mean, I would pay good money to see that happen), the real story here is the continuation of the thread that keeps showing up lately.
Personality differences aside, it is hard to argue with reality.
When push comes to shove, the make believe world of the progressive “woke mind virus” doesn’t stand up to the real-life virtue of merit and integrity.
And when even the likes of Geraldo Rivera can admit that he basically hates Bongino’s guts, and in the same breath BACK HIM as a good choice for a critical security role responsible for protecting the highest level of American leadership — that’s a good sign.
We may be getting somewhere.
Hopefully, no where near a bar with Geraldo nearby… but, somewhere.
