BREAKING: Trump joins Elon Musk in Texas as SpaceX launches rocket
While he was en route to Texas, the president-elect posted on Truth Social, “Good luck to Elon Musk and the Great Patriots involved in this incredible project!”
Donald Trump joined Elon Musk for a trip to Brownsville, Texas in order to watch SpaceX’s sixth test rocket launch on Tuesday. According to the Associated Press, on Tuesday afternoon, Trump took the trip out to the Lone Star State at one of SpaceX’s launch sites with Musk. While he was en route to Texas the president-elect posted on Truth Social, “Good luck to Elon Musk and the Great Patriots involved in this incredible project!”
The trip to Texas comes following SpaceX’s successful test flight last month where the company was able to launch a rocket booster in order to propel the Starship into space. The booster then dropped, coming back down smoothly into two mechanical arms. In this way, the company founded by Musk has opened doors to have reusable rocket boosters, allowing for faster repeat trips into space.
The Starship launched at 5pm on Tuesday local time. The company posted a live video to X, showing the preparation for the rocket to launch, and added in a threat, “Today’s flight test aims to expand the envelope on ship and booster capabilities and get closer to bringing reuse of the entire system online.”
SpaceX added, “Objectives include the booster once again returning to the launch site for catch, reigniting a ship Raptor engine while in space, and testing a suite of heatshield experiments and maneuvering changes for ship reentry and descent over the Indian Ocean.”
