President-elect Donald Trump announced that a former presidential rival will be his nominee for Secretary of the Interior while speaking at his Mar-A-Lago estate.

During a Mar-A-Lago gala on Thursday evening, Trump announced that he will be nominating North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum for the position.

“We have a big announcement and I won’t tell you it’s, I won’t tell you the name of his, uh, the exact name. I think he’s an incredible person. He’s got an unbelievably wonderful wife named Catherine. So I won’t tell you his name. Might be something like Burgum, Burgum,” Trump told attendees. “He’s from North Dakota. He’s going to be announced tomorrow for a very big position. So everybody’s waiting. There he is. Hi, Doug,” the president-elect continued while acknowledging the governor in the crowd.

Trump then stated that Burgum would formally be announced tomorrow before hinting that another, “big” nominee would also be announced.

“And we’re going to do things with energy and with land, interior, that is going to be incredible. And so I look forward to doing the formal announcement, although this is a pretty big announcement right now. Actually, he’s going to head the Department of Interior, and he’s going to be fantastic,” the president-elect continued.

Burgum, 68, has served as governor of North Dakota since 2016. He endorsed the president-elect earlier this year after suspending his unsuccessful presidential bid.

The governor was once seen as a top candidate to serve as Trump’s running mate before he selected J.D. Vance back in July.

Throughout his presidential bid and tenure as governor, Burgum placed a massive emphasis on ramping up U.S. energy production and cutting regulations that bog down American producers.
