Funny how the sign of the crossed fingers tells of both lying and hope. Both apply to this story.
After it was revealed that FEMA/DHS employees, working in FL to assess damages after Milton, were told to skip any properties which evidenced Trump support, the director of FEMA responded.
“The employee who issued this guidance had no authority and was given no direction to tell teams to avoid these homes and we are reaching out to the people who may have not been reached as a result of this incident.”
FEMA asserts that it has taken “extreme actions” to correct the situation, and later clarified that Washington is no longer with the agency. (OK, I’m pretty dense sometimes, but why would firing someone who pulled this stunt be considered “extreme”?)
FEMA employee Marn’i Washington was fingered and released. The employee in question, who “had no authority”, was a supervisor.
So, I’m scoring this, a “Lie”. Note, left hand used here…
Without this assessment, property owners are NOT eligible for federal funding aid to repair and/or replace their structures. Government communication systems after Milton contained instructions such as, “Trump sign, no entry. Per leadership.” Fits right in with NC/TN and Helene.
Read, “We got caught, so we’ll blame it on one rogue employee.”
Wonder how that FEMA assessment thing is coming along in NC and TN? Finding the truth there will take years, I fear. Stories from the residents of the area are NOT good.
After the arguably criminal and prejudicial treatment of Trump voters in Western NC, and Eastern TN, what Federal workers were told to do in Lake Placid, FL, surprises few.
In TN and NC, citizen rescue organizations were first on the scene, working side by side with private organizations like Samaritan’s Purse. They told of government interference – damaging of supplies, threatening volunteers, et. al. – instead of help. The official orders to bring in FEMA assistance, lay, unsigned on NC Governor Roy Cooper’s desk for ten days, it has been reported.
Think the government would go to this extent to prevent aid, then worry about Trump supporters’ storm damage in one town in FL?
Just as an interesting aside, thousands of TN and NC National Guard Troops had been sent to KUWAIT for a year’s assignment ON THE SAME WEEKEND AS HELENE STRUCK their states. I know it was supposedy planned one year in advance, but to me, the “coincidence” is no less than stunning.
I remind you now, of Helene and the treatment from our federal government which was received by Conservative Americans then, because it fits so well with the Lake Placid incident. Milton hit Florida only two weeks after Helene destroyed parts of NC and TN. It appears that the FEMA and other federal disaster relief policies really did not change from storm to storm.
Does anybody really believe that they would have??
The Governor of Florida, went to “X”on Nov. 8, to huff and puff, and launch an investigation by the Florida Dept of Emergency Management. I, for one, certainly hope that THIS investigation goes farther than the one into the second Trump assassination attempt, where AG Moody said the state investigation had been blocked by the Feds. We’d best not be holding our breath, to hear of progress in either.
Maybe I’m getting oversaturated in political sewage, but here’s what I think.
I do not believe that anyone will do anything to oveturn the truly evil ways of our government – local, state AND national – until we work longer and harder to help the newly elected administration to bring the fresh air of morals back to our governance.
Here, those crossed fingers (RIGHT-HANDED) are the HOPE of the power of Americans working together. Let’s get busy.
