Fans Slam Ariana Grande for Snubbing Elvira’s Cassandra Peterson
Ariana Grande might have some explaining to do after her recent encounter with Cassandra Peterson, who’s best known for her character Elvira. Fans slammed the “thank u, next” singer for dismissing the horror icon.
Cassandra, 73, described her “worst celebrity encounter” while speaking to a crowd in a video shared on TikTok, and it was none other than Glinda the Good Witch herself.
“I’ll tell you briefly,” Cassandra said after another presenter referenced Ariana’s infamous donut encounter in 2015. “She came and she brought 20 guests, so she wanted 20, 21 tickets. We’re like, ‘OK,’ and we give her the tickets. She comes backstage and she asks if I could take pictures with all of her friends and relatives [that] she brought.”
The Elvira: Mistress of the Dark star continued, “I take a picture with every single one of them. I sign autographs for every single one of them. Then I say to her, ‘Can we take a photo together?’ She goes, ‘Nah, I don’t really do that.’”
To make matters worse, the Scream Queens alum allegedly didn’t even bother to stay for Cassandra’s performance and ditched the show while her family and friends stayed. People in the audience booed Ariana, 31, as another presenter on the panel quipped, “She’s playing the wrong witch.”
Cassandra’s fans flooded the comments section of the TikTok video and slammed Ariana for her alleged bad behavior.
“Is anyone honestly surprised that Ariana’s like that? After decades of hearing similar stories from folks?” wrote one critic.
Another person added, “ur actually joking… her expecting that much then not even taking a single photo? that’s insane.”
The “Bang Bang” artist is no stranger to controversy, though. Ariana came under fire in 2023 for her relationship with her Wicked costar, Ethan Slater. On July 17, 2023, news broke that Ariana and her ex-husband, Dalton Gomez, had separated after two years of marriage. Three days later, there were whispers that she and Ethan, 32, were dating despite him being married to Lilly Jay at the time.
Rumors swirled that Ariana and Ethan had both cheated on their former spouses, but the “7 Rings” singer eventually addressed the situation in February.
“We know this about the tabloids and about the media. We selectively remember that this is what the tabloids do to people, especially women, based on whether or not we like the person,” Ariana said during the February 26 episode of the Zach Sang Show. “We selectively remember that. We selectively leave space for humanness, for nuance.”
Ariana and The Spongebob Musical star weathered the negativity together and earlier this month, she spoke out about the rumors that Ethan abandoned his wife and child to be with her.
“So many people believe the worst version of it,” Ariana told Vanity Fair. “There couldn’t be a less accurate depiction of a human being …. No one on this earth tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about.”
However, the Sam & Cat alum is exhausted by constantly having to defend herself.
“Ariana is happy in her relationship and tired of defending how they got together,” an insider exclusively told Life & Style.
