Miranda Lambert Laughs as Theo Von Plays Blake Shelton Song

Miranda Lambert had a good laugh when she sat down for an episode of Theo Von’s podcast, “This Past Weekend With Theo Von.”

Theo, 44, and Miranda, 40, were discussing a popular radio segment called “Cryin’, Lovin’ or Leavin’” when Theo asked producers to pull up a “call of the week” from the show. However, the one call producers clicked on was actually a request from a listener to hear “God Gave Me You” by Miranda’s ex-husband, Blake Shelton.

“Perfect one to pick, by the way,” Miranda said before bursting into laughter.

Theo sat there in shock while shaking his head as Miranda kept telling him it was perfect. He promised the “If I Was a Cowboy” singer that the incident wasn’t planned beforehand.

“We did not pick that on purpose,” Theo explained. “I had no idea we would talk about ‘Cryin’, Lovin’ or Leavin.’”

Miranda continued laughing and said, “My first wedding song, guys! Let’s play that! We’re crying, loving and leaving now, bye!”

Blake, 48, has previously said that when he heard the original version of “God Gave Me You” in 2010 by Christian singer Dave Barnes, it reminded him of Miranda, who he was dating at the time.

“It’s no secret, Miranda and I have had our ups and downs over the years and this was definitely at a low point at our relationship,” Blake said during an interview with The Boot published on July 12, 2011. “But I heard that song come on the radio – for whatever reason I was flipping through stations and landed on a contemporary Christian station, and that song came on and I almost had to pull the truck over. It was one of those moments for me where I felt like I was hearing that song at that moment for a reason.”

Miranda and The Voice alum began dating in 2006, and five years later they tied the knot. In 2015, the couple shocked fans when they announced they had split just hours after their divorce was finalized.

“This is not the future we envisioned,” a spokesperson for the former couple said in a statement at the time. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

While both Miranda and Blake’s split seemed to come out of nowhere to fans, TMZ reported in July 2015 that Blake allegedly believed that Miranda had been unfaithful in their marriage. However, both of them adamantly denied the cheating rumors. Since their relationship ended, both parties have spoken about their divorce.

“When we recorded the vocals for some of these songs [for the album If I’m Honest,] I was only six months removed from when all the crap went down,” Blake told Billboard in a 2016 interview. “When you have a broken heart — at least, when I do — you got to get it out of your system. You want people to sympathize with you. I was at rock bottom, in the middle of hell.”

Miranda has also opened up about the breakup in 2019 and hinted at some frustration with how much publicity her and Blake’s divorce continued to receive.

“When everyone’s worried about your personal life, it makes you feel like, ‘Well, if you could just spend some of that time talking about my actual art, that would be great!’” Miranda explained during the November 2019 interview with Health. “But I guess I asked for it, getting into this business. I’m never gonna get used to the public eye in that way.”

Since their divorce, Blake and Miranda have both remarried with Miranda saying “I do” to Brendan McLoughlin in November 2019 and Blake marrying Gwen Stefani in July 2021.
