While speaking to reporters in Scranton, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, former President Trump announced that he will be holding a massive rally at the historic Madison Square Garden in New York City later this month.

“We’re doing Madison Square [Garden], We’re going to go to the arena in Atlanta, if we can get it. We’re going to go to the arena in New Jersey, if we can get it. You have to get it. But we’re doing arenas because the crowds are so big. And we’re making a play for New Jersey,” Trump told supporters.

“We’re making a play for Virginia. We’re making a play for New York. New Mexico. Minnesota, where this lunatic comes from. I’m doing well in, you know why I’m doing well in Minnesota? Because he’s running.”

Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally is currently booked for October 27, just nine days before the election, Trump campaign sources told the New York Post. The rally is expected to be massive and will function on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Former President Trump has held several rallies in deep blue New York — which experienced a noticeable rightward trend in 2022 — over the past year. More than 15,000 fans packed into the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island last month.

Back in May, more than 10,000 New Yorkers showed up for a Trump rally at Crotona Park in The Bronx, soaring past park capacity of 3,000.

Trump also held a rally in Wildwood, New Jersey — a popular vacation destination for residents of South Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania — earlier this year. The beachfront rally drew more than 20,000 supporters, prompting Trump to vow a return to the Garden State.

The former president has tapped Rep. Jeff Van Drew to head up his campaign in New Jersey. Van Drew, a former Democrat who switched to the Republican Party due to his objections over the Trump impeachment trials, has become one of the former president’s strongest allies in the state.

Van Drew has cruised to re-election twice since switching parties.
