CNN's Jim Acosta Melts Down After Guest Destroys J6 Narrative

CNN anchor Jim Acosta flipped when his contributor David Urban challenged the media narrative that former President Donald Trump was to blame for the chaos surrounding Jan. 6.

During the panel discussion that aired recently, people died as a result of the riot.

However, Urban pushed back, saying, “The only person that died on Jan 6 was Ashli Babbitt, who was murdered.”

This remark did not go down well with Jim Acosta, who said the situation could have been avoided if “Trump had just been a man and accepted the election results.”

Urban: The only person who died on Jan. 6 was Ashli Babbitt, who was murdered. That’s the only person that died, Karen. Let’s be straight. On Jan. 6.

Acosta: There were police officers who died–

Urban: I’m not trying to minimize it. I’m not trying to–

Acosta: Police officers were beaten with–

Urban: Jim, Jim, Jim–

Acosta: Let’s not do that one, then–

Urban: Jim! Jim! It’s terrible, right?

Acosta: None of that — David, David, David, none of that would have happened if Donald Trump had just been a man and accepted the election results in 2020.

The other contributor, Karen Finney, attempted to stop the back-and-forth between the two before they both calmed down.

In 2021, Capitol police officer responsible for the death of Ashli Babbitt broke his silence, claiming that his actions “saved countless lives.”

Here’s more from NBC News:

“Once we barricaded the doors, we were essentially trapped where we were,” Byrd said in an exclusive interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt, speaking publicly for the first time since the riot.

“There was no way to retreat. No other way to get out. “If they get through that door, they’re into the House chamber and upon the members of Congress,” Byrd said, who permitted NBC News to use his name after authorities had declined to release it.

Byrd’s connection to what was going on outside and inside was his police radio, which sounded off alarming messages with shouts of officers down and screams of his colleagues under attack by rioters.

“It was literally broadcast over the air,” Byrd said.

“I said, ‘OK, this is getting serious.’”

Byrd took a defensive posture with his gun drawn as rioters smashed the glass doors as he repeatedly yelled for them to get back.

Byrd fired one shot, striking Babbitt in the shoulder.

Babbitt was a 35-year-old Air Force veteran and Trump supporter.

She tragically died from her wounds sometime later.
