HOT TAKES: Blinken Ripped Into Next Week After Tone-Deaf Tweet in Face of Hurricane Helene Crisis
There’s a lot of need right now in hard-to-reach areas of the Southeast that are suffering as a result of Hurricane Helene.
While there seem to be a lot of private people and organizations helping out, many have been upset with the Biden-Harris administration’s response, as lives hang in the balance.
Joe Biden spoke at a White House briefing on Friday, bragging about what he thought was a good jobs report. What he didn’t do was really say anything about the hurricane, apart from saying the government needed to make sure they had money. Hardly anything to show that he even gave a darn. It was typically tone-deaf, thinking only about how he could burnish his own image with the report. His team did talk about some things FEMA was doing, but Biden’s statement showed his priorities.

Biden wasn’t the only one who was tone-deaf in the administration. At a time when Americans are particularly upset and some are in need of help, people did not appreciate what Secretary of State Antony Blinken tweeted on Friday night:
The U.S. is at the forefront of humanitarian response to the growing crisis in Lebanon, announcing nearly $157 million in assistance today. We are committed to supporting those in need and delivering essential aid to displaced civilians, refugees and the communities hosting them.

How could he possibly be so clueless? Yet there it is. What about the humanitarian crisis right here? At least 215 people are reportedly dead.
Then, too, how could Blinken post that right after DHS head Alejandro Mayorkas claimed that FEMA doesn’t have enough funding to last through the hurricane season?
People were outraged, and Blinken was ratioed into next week:
Absolutely insane tone deafness to post this right now. https://t.co/tOGjxch688

No word on the humanitarian response here at home.

Maybe it’s just me but it seems odd that the government can wave a magic wand and ship $157M overseas but can’t provide enough funding to FEMA so it can respond to hurricanes that destroy communities here in America https://t.co/gHhiKQKEs0

And reporters, this one too.
So you’ve got the Secretary of State bragging about aid to Lebanon. You’ve got USAID bragging about aid to Ukraine.
People are dying in North Carolina and foreign aid is a talking point.
Seriously — is the Biden Administration trying to sabotage… https://t.co/E96YHpM9D3

The post ends with: “Seriously — is the Biden Administration trying to sabotage the Kamala Harris campaign?”
All this while hundreds of thousands of tax-paying Americans all over the Southeast are still digging for bodies and are without power and running water. This is the most heartless, anti-American, incompetent administration in our country’s history. 🤯🤯 https://t.co/QHWbuhgM0M

If we needed one last reminder of how much we need to vote these people out, this would be it.
Update: We’d be remiss if we left out this reaction from RedState Deputy Managing Editor, Susie Moore, who nailed it:
What if it’s not tone-deafness? What if it’s flex? https://t.co/LkTkRxnuBQ
