CBS Claims Trump Backed Out of “60 Minutes” Interview, Turns Out He Never Accepted in First Place
Former President Donald Trump refused to do an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes,” a completely understandable decision given its track record of deceptive editing and spin.
Now the network is falsely claiming Trump “backed out,” exposing themselves as outright liars once again.
While the Trump campaign admitted to talking with CBS, it was confirmed that Trump never accepted the interview.
“Fake News… There were initial discussions, but nothing was ever scheduled or locked in,” Steven Cheung, the spokesman for the campaign said.
“For over half a century, 60 Minutes has invited the Democratic and Republican tickets to appear on our broadcast as Americans head to the polls,” the network said.
“This year, both the Harris and Trump campaigns agreed to sit down with 60 Minutes.”
“After initially accepting 60 Minutes’ request for an interview with Scott Pelley, former President Trump’s campaign has decided not to participate,” CBS continued.
CBS will continue with its interview with Kamala Harris, which will likely be another softball fest.
“Our original invitation to former President Donald Trump to be interviewed on 60 Minutes stands,” it added.
The Trump campaign ripped CBS in a statement:
“Fake News. 60 Minutes begged for an interview, even after they were caught lying about Hunter Biden’s laptop back in 2020. There were initial discussions, but nothing was ever scheduled or locked in,” said Steven Cheung, the spokesman for the campaign.
The news came after former First Lady Melania Trump slammed the media for their violent rhetoric leading to the two assassination attempts against her husband.
“It’s interesting how quiet everything became, all of the mainstream media. There were a few days reporting about the July 13th event, and everything then became quiet,” she told Fox News’ Ainsley Earhardt.
“I had a lot of questions,” Melania continued.
It’s no surprise Trump is not giving the establishment media any of his airtime.
