Matt Driscoll, the columnist and opinion editor for The News Tribune (TNT), known for his pro-vaccine stance and attacking anyone who spoke out against the jab, died suddenly at his Tacoma home this Sunday, he was 43.

TNT announced Driscoll’s death this week.

“We’ve lost a fried and beloved colleague, but Tacoma and Pierce County have lost someone who never stopped caring,” said fellow TNT writer Sean Robinson.

Washington Governor Jay Inslee (D-WA) also paid tribute to Driscoll on social media.

“Tacoma still has the Rainiers and the Narrows Bridge, but our City of Destiny has a hole in our hearts at the loss of Matt Driscoll. What a big heart and an insightful pen he gave us. I miss him already,” wrote Inslee.

Driscoll, who has been described as “Johnny Appleseed of White Guilt” and/or “the Perez Hilton of Pierce County,” was renowned for his supportive views on the COVID-19 vaccine.

Driscoll recently accused NFL star Aaron Rodgers of engaging in “performance art” after the sportsman warned people about the potential side effects of mRNA vaccines.

According to X account, ‘Died Suddenly’, “Driscoll also cheered the work of pro-vaxx troll Craig Egan in 2017, while he harassed and bullied the Vaxxed movie tour, which compellingly presented the story of parents whose children developed autism after receiving routine shots after birth.”

TNT senior reporter Shea Johnson remembered Driscoll as “approachable and down-to-earth:”

“He was obviously a force at The News Tribune — the face of the TNT for many — but never acted like he was too cool to approach for questions, advice, or just office banter,” Johnson said.

Driscoll reportedly suffered a medical emergency before his passing.

The cause of death is yet to be determined, according to TNT.

According to Driscoll’s X account, he received a COVID-19 vaccination in 2021.
