400 Child Containers in America Save Infants From Infanticide
I was re-reading “How did you go from a latent to an activated pro-lifer?” this morning and, as always, came away with excellent information from Secular Pro-Life. The subhead to Monica Snyder’s story was ‘What moves someone from being quietly pro-life to actively speaking out?”
They were surveying not an all-of-a-sudden transformations but what it took to move someone from being quietly pro-life to being involved in the greatest social justice movement of our generation.
My topic here is not a reason offered by secular pro-lifers but—to me, at least—is clearly related.

It was a story that I also read today whose headline surprised me (but shouldn’t have): “US ‘baby boxes’ offer anonymous baby drop-off amid fierce abortion debate”. The story, narrated by Phil LaVelle, was about the introduction of Baby Boxes in Alabama and was wholly sympathetic.
The number in Alabama is 20 “and growing” The first baby was rescued in just six days. There are more than 400 Baby Boxes across the US in 24 states, according to LaVelle.
He emphasizes the beauty of the arrangement. A baby lives and the mother has complete anonymity. She leaves her newborn in the temperature-controlled box, walks away, and 60 seconds later an alarm goes off and the baby is safely retrieved.
What a courageous pro-life action, as the woman who was part of the team that inspired the installation of the first Baby Box in Alabama, told LaVelle. There is also the testimony of an anonymous young woman who tells LaVelle, “By surrendering, I know for a fact I saved her, and it saved me.”
But several of the comments were truly ugly. Alas, they only confirm what we already knew.
There is a segment, a large segment, I fear, of abortion defenders that is so blinded by gibberish about “autonomy” that the survival of babies that “ought” to be dead infuriates them.
In fact, as pro-lifers are the first to acknowledge, surrendering a baby is an act of bravery. And that only makes pro-abortionists even more angry.
Why, they demand to know? It’s so much “easier” to swallow a pill and be done with it.
Only the “it” is a living, breathing child, a reflection too difficult for the unwilling pro-abortion mind to comprehend.
