A serious road accident occurred Friday morning in Ramat Gan when a bus lost control, swerved off course, and crashed with significant force into a storefront and an adjacent building at the Kofer HaYishuv square.

A 25-year-old woman was trapped under the bus and suffered multi-system trauma. She was evacuated to Ichilov Hospital in critical condition. A woman in her 60s suffered a head injury and was also taken to Ichilov. Eight other individuals, mostly elderly women, were treated at the scene and evacuated with light injuries.
The driver was detained for questioning and claimed that he accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake while making a turn. However, due to the nature and location of the crash, the Shin Bet (ISA) is involved in examining the circumstances to rule out a security-related motive. Police emphasized that “all directions are being checked.”

Eyewitnesses described a “massive boom” and immediate panic. Netanel Michalshvili, the son of the store owner, was at the cash register during the impact: “Suddenly there was a boom, everything flew and broke.”

Ramat Gan Mayor Carmel Shama-Hacohen arrived at the scene, noting that because the collision involved an older building, city engineers have been summoned to assess the structural stability and potential danger of collapse.
According to Li Ayish from i24 News, the suspicion that this was a terrorist attack has been ruled out.
